A “symphony from the Rhine”: The CLARA AND ROBERT buildings combine historic façades with modern architecture, aluminium and clinker, single and multiple tenants.
A versatile building for those who set the pace, it was built on a conversion area immediately adjacent to the Unternehmerstadt. The building’s name is reminiscent of husband-and-wife artists Clara and Robert Schumann, and music is also a key element of the façade’s design:
the vertical slits in the polished natural aluminium building envelope recall old perforated-metal music discs used to record sound for mechanical musical instruments. In addition to its conceptual coherence, the façade absorbs changing light conditions, projecting a myriad of different moods on the building.
